OUR VISION:
Where we’ve been this year...
The pueblos:
-
Over the past year we have joined with a group of people in San Luis Potosi who have been doing helps ministry for the past 10 years. Working with this group of volunteers we have been able to help provide clean water, food, clothing, medical and dental care and Christian education to the people of Guadalupe Victoria, a small rural pueblo outside the city of Zacatecas. The 250 plus residence of Guadalupe Victoria have responded to our help with love, trust and respect. Out of our relationship with them we have been able to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and demonstrate God’s love to them in a way that has been very impactful for their lives. As a result of their willingness to trust us and the Lord we have been able to serve them and watch this little pueblo, of mostly women and children, grow in hope and love for God and for each other.
City ministry:
Where we are going...
The pueblos:
-
The vision for the pueblos for the coming year is to build further on the relationships that we’ve established and provide classes for literacy as well as our Bible study class, more clean water and food and clothing as needed. We also plan to bring medical and dental teams to help improve the over all health of the community.
We will also continue to encourage their home based business that we helped them start this year. Creating this business was developed at the request of the women there who wanted to better their lives by learning a skill. Following a working model started by some friends of ours who are missionaries in Nepal, this small business has now begun. We were able to provide yarn and needles for the women who were eager to learn how to knit and crochet. They have now begun to produce handmade scarves that we will sell for them in San Luis Potosi. This work is in process and looks like it is going to be a viable means for these women to provide money to buy basic essentials for their families.
In addition to Guadalupe Victoria we are looking at other pueblos in this general area that are equally in need of the basics of life. Based on what we have learned at Guadalupe Victoria we plan to duplicate the process as many times as we can in as many pueblos as possible. One of the primary focuses for all of the pueblos this year will be an adequate supply of clean water.
City ministry: -
Our vision for this area is huge. But, we have a huge God!
Since living here for the past year we have been able to see first hand a desperate desire for truth. The culture in Mexico devoted to tradition and family but misguided by many beliefs that keep them trapped .Our heart is to go to them where they are in the streets and parks and plazas that are prevalent in most towns and cities in Mexico. We will start with the city of San Luis Potosi.
While living here we have met a number of leaders from churches of several different denominations that also have a passion for the lost. Our vision is to partner with them and present outreaches that are similar to ones being done in the states by WOW JAM. (http://www.wowjam.com/)
Once people accept the Lord we will encourage them to attend one of the churches we are partnering with in order to be discipled. The names of the new converts will be given to the pastors of each church for follow up.
"The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the
Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He
has sent me to
bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim freedom for the
captives and release from darkness for the prisoners."”Isaiah
